Nari Jibon Development Foundation depends on private donation as it is providing skill trainings (Computer, English, Tailoring and Non formal Adult Education) to the underprivileged women & girls from the March 2005. Students pay very nominal fee for these courses. Due to world economic crisis and health problem of main donor (Dr. Kathryn B Ward, Professor, Department of Sociology, SIU at Carbondale) and some other reasons Nari Jibon is facing serious financial crisis. While it was near to close the volunteer English Teacher of Nari Jibon Lee Goldman and some of her colleagues/students donated to continue Nari Jibon activities as they think that the skill training programs of Nari Jibon are more effective to the Bangladeshi women.
On March 27 the American International School of Dhaka (AISD) hosted a running event called the Step-Up Relays in which teams of four people ran a series of laps around Baridhara. Teams consisted of students, parents, school staff, and other community members. Each team paid a registration fee, and all proceeds from the event were donated to Nari Jibon.

At an earlier event on Dec.13, 2008, AISD held another athletic event called the Splash-n-Dash, a duathalon in which participants swam 400m and ran 4km. In some cases a swimmer and runner joined together to form a team to complete the duathalon. Again, the participants paid a registration fee and all proceeds went to Nari Jibon.

On the 1st Falgun

On the first Falgun, 1415 [Bengali month, year] Bengali people celebrate this day with a great joy. Many cultural programs are arranged on this day. Bengali girls & women wear Saree. People prefer yellow color based dresses on this day. From 1^st Falgun the Winter season gets to end and the king of the seasons Spring starts. The nature starts changing in new beauty. In the winter season the nature becomes rough & lifeless. After the winter the nature decorates her with new leaves & many colorful flowers. That’s why Bengali people cheer on this day and pass the day with festive & gay mood.

I also celebrate this day with my friends & family. On this 1^st Falgun I celebrate with my newly married brother & sister-in-law. We had a trip to Munshigonj by ship. We started our journey from Buriganga River and end our journey at Shitalaksha River. We went to my brother’s friend’s home. It was like a picnic. My brother’s friend arranged everything. The journey was for two hours. When we reached at Munshigonj we found many types of hand made cakes, paste of different fruits & drinks were arranged for us. At noon we had Kacchi Biriany as lunch. In the afternoon curd & tea were arranged. We passed some times at the side of Shitalaksha River. In the evening we started our journey for Dhaka. We had a great fun there. We are really grateful to my brother’s friend Mr. Jubaidur Rahman Khan for giving us a wonderful trip on 1^st Falgun.

I never knew that in Dhaka we have place like this. We felt that we are in the village. That place is so peaceful. We spent the afternoon there and took some pictures. The English Sections of Nari Jibon Project

Nari Jibon Project provides alternative skills for girls & women. Actually it is a training program. The Executive Director of this Project is Kathryn B Ward. She is a Professor of Sociology and Women’s Studies of Illinois University, Carbondale. She started this project in March 2005 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Funding comes from her and her mother Pat Ward and nominally from the students’ admission fees and other donations.

Here different aged of girls and women can take courses on English, Bengali, Tailoring, Computer Office Program, Graphics and Photography etc. Most of the students are of school, college and university levels. Also sex workers can get admitted in English, computers or any other sections in Nari Jibon.

Here we have Nari [Women] Cyber Café only for girls and women. Students are to submit their assignments to the related teachers and practice on English and Computer in this cyber café.

We have also a Blog Project in English [titled “Bangladesh from Our View” [http://narijibon.blogspot.com] and Bengali [“Amader Galpa (Our Stories)” [http://banglablog-narijibon.blogspot.com ] to enhance students’ & staffs’ creativity on different areas.

In Nari Jibon Project we have two English sections: English-1 [Basic Grammar, Reading, Writing and Speaking] and English-2 [Advanced Speaking, Reading & Writing]. Beside those two Practice Classes[Special English Spoken Practice Class] are held on Friday and Saturday morning.

I am the teacher of these sections. Some times many visiting teachers come to take English classes to encourage the students. The students are to attend in the English Sections before taking the computer course. Before admitting here students are to attend an admission test and their sections are decided on their results.

After every three/four month’s guardian meetings and prize giving ceremony are arranged. We also arrange blog workshop by experienced people. Now I will give some descriptions about Nari Jibon English classes.

English-1 [Basic Grammar, Reading, Writing and Speaking]:
Teacher: Mohtarimun Nahar (Bipa)

Course objectives:

Students will learn Basic English vocabulary.
Students will learn Basic English grammar rules.
Materials mostly given in English (immersion).
Practice on speaking, writing, reading, and understanding will be assigned in each class.
Students will be able to: read, write and speak.
Remove students’ hesitation on speaking.
Students will contribute to the English blog.
At the end of the course, students will be prepared to move to English 2.

Course requirements:

Students must know the English alphabet before attending this class.
Students will do their homework as requested.
Students will develop their portfolio and plan.

Students will diligently attend classes, and provide adequate reasons for absence. They will be required to make up missed work.

English-2 [Advanced Speaking, Reading & Writing]:
Teacher: Mohtarimun Nahar (Bipa)

English 2 is the final course in English at Nari Jibon. Students who have completed English 1 and have passed a competency exam (oral and written) are eligible to join this class. English 2 is taught completely in English, and each class includes elements of speaking, reading, writing and comprehension. Students are expected to submit homework assignments as required by their teacher, to attend class regularly, and to sit for exams as scheduled.

Course objectives:

Students will improve their English vocabulary.
Students will improve their English grammar rules.
Students will be able to: read, write and speak.
Students will increase their confidence when conversing in English.
Students will contribute to the English blog.
Students will develop their portfolios.
Students will complete internships.
At the end of the course, students will be able to hold a conversation with a native English speaker, read and understand English writing, and write grammatically correct memos, essays and prose.

Rules of English- 1 & 2:

The course will be finished within two months [English-1 within 24 classes and English- 2 within 16 classes].
Students are required to purchase a cyber café pass card and complete their homework in the cyber café, at least one hour per week.
Class Days & Time:

English-2: Wednesday & Friday [03.00 am – 05:00 pm].
Special English Spoken Practice Class: Saturday [11:00 am – 01:00 pm].

English-1: Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday [03.00am – 05:00pm].
Special English Spoken Practice Class: Friday [11:00 am – 01:00 pm].

Keep the mobile on vibrate in the class.
Students will submit their assignments by sheet or through email.
In every class, speaking will be practiced on different topics.
After graduation, students will have to finish the internship program [for two weeks].
If students miss more than one week of English class, they will be dropped from the class.
If students refuse to turn in homework for more than two weeks, they will be dropped from the class.

The practices are done by:

Speaking	To be able to speak in different places on different topics and practice from diagram.
Writing	To be able to write paragraph, applications, cover letters, bio-data etc. and make portfolio.
Reading	To be able to read any passes or paragraphs fluently and the pronunciation will be corrected
Listening	To be able to understand English by listening and answer from given questions on that.
Question Answering	To be able to make questions and answer to those. Students will practice by answering some questions to one another and ask about class room objects.
Submitting assignments	Students submit their assignments on class related topics and BLOG. They will type in cybercafé and submit those through email to: mn.bipa@gmail.com ; bipa19@yahoo.com
Browsing internet	Students will browse some website and blogspot site and submit assignments as required by the teacher.

She is the students of the American International School at Dhaka. She has a sister and a brother. She is sixteen years old. She decided to come to help out the women centre as part of her service hours. She has lived in many countries, such as- Nepal, Cambodia and Laos etc. She thinks Dhaka has been an amazing experience for her especially when she gets to come to help such wonderful women.

Muniyat Haque

She has lived in Canada. She studies in AIS/D. She wants to study in Economics and be an Economist.

She teaches math at the American International School at Dhaka. She has a husband and two children. She came from the United States in Virginia. She came to know about Nari Jibon from her friend Rick Davis. In the States she was a teacher in a girls school

There are many organizations that are committed to develop women or vulnerable women in the world. Some of these organizations provide money to women in the hopes of making them self-reliant. These organizations also report that those women are running business or being self reliant using their money. But we can see that often, their money is used by their husband or other male persons. But Nari Jibon does not give them current money. Nari Jibon gives skill training and makes them able to be self reliant or sometimes helps them for being self reliant. As an example Nari Jibon provides tailoring skills including business knowledge. Nari Jibon provides cloth and students make most of the items during class and internship. Students also visit some tailoring business centers. Then sometimes Nari Jibon provides some money for sewing machine and some business set up cost. Nari Jibon authority also follows up on their progress. Similarly, the other section provides computer knowledge. Students in this section will also learn how to write a standard cover letter and resume, as well as create a portfolio. She will use cyber café for practicing and visiting various web pages and blogs from where she will increase her computer and English knowledge. Every student will open an e-mail account and also students will write blogs. By the reading and writing blogs, students can increase their knowledge and skill more in English and computer programs. Thus students become fit for job. About Nari Jibon Nari Jibon is a non-profit charitable service organization. It is working in South-Dhaka, Bangladesh since 2005. Nari Jibon provides services and support to the women students and workers of low and mid-level families. Nari Jibon provides basic educational and technical skills for employment, income-generation, empower and business development. Nari Jibon provides Bangla primary education to the illiterate women, tailoring cutting and sewing master course, English-1 and English-2 (spoken) and computers (MS Office Programs, graphics and webpage design, photography, and hardware trouble shooting and program maintenance).

Difference of Nari Jibon skill training programs…

1. Nari Jibon is safe place for the women

2. Nari Jibon takes only nominal registration fee for all the courses.

3. Computer students have to have English knowledge or have to learn English at Nari Jibon as it is most essential for related job.

4. Students must use Nari Jibon’s cyber café to have more practice, visiting more web sites, reading and writing blogs and learning other online activities.

5. Nari Jibon motivates students to read and write posts for blogs as it improves students’ knowledge in English and computer. If students want to continue blogging they can open individual blog sites.

6. Often students are trained by some foreigner experts besides Nari Jibon internal expert instructors.

7. All the students will write their own portfolios by themselves.

8. Scholarship students will communicate with individual donors writing thank you letters and monthly progress reports.

Why you should donate for women only.

After being married women are excluded from their parents’ wealth. If any woman becomes a widow at her young age, she is bereft from her husband’s wealth. There are many divorced women who are neglected by her parents’ family. Some male persons take more wives and so that those women are neglected by these husbands. We can see some husbands leaving their wives and hiding them. Some husbands demand dowry after marriage and torture their wives. Some husbands try to pressure their wives into the informal sector. Some low and mid-level families are not interested in spending money for their female members/daughters. And there are fewer job opportunities for the women in our country. So women need more skill training/ education scope to protect themselves and compete against male students as we know that sons get more scope for education than the daughters.So Nari Jibon can be your appropriate place for donation or Jakat. If you donate to Nari Jibon, you will be informed how your donation is spent. As an example if you donate above $10 dollars, you will get thank you letter, picture of students and progress report and successful history.

How and how much money you donate-

You can donate students’ registration course fees, Microsoft Office Program- $17 including 4 cyber passes, Graphics and Web design course $24 including 6 cyber pass cards, photography course $13, Bangla course fee-$1.50, tailoring, cutting and sewing Master Course fee-$5. (These amounts cover only the admission fees that we charge. It costs us much more to actually provide the services, so any extra amount that you can give is much appreciated.)You can provide some money as conveyance with registration fee or you can donate a sewing machine to a poor or vulnerable woman. Nari Jibon has a special scholarship program named LPC (work-study-women) program. Some women need to earn money to survive and they also need to learn skill to change their career or profession. As an example one housemaid or sex worker or poor (dropped out) student who is strong determined to change her profession but she needs to earn money to survive. If she gets LPC scholarship, she will be free to learn skills. She will learn skills and she will also take practical work experience at office. Thus LPC students will make her more fit for jobs and she will also communicate with the employers during course duration. LPC students get $ 50 dollars per month so totally she will get (50 X 4 = $200) Or you can also donate some money to continue Nari Jibon activities such as you can donate a computer or UPS (uninterrupted power supply) or one month electricity bill or rent.

Nari Jibon 4th blog workshop - August, 2008

Yesterday, 29th august 08 was the 4th blog workshop of Nari Jibon project. David Sasaki, Director of Rising Voices was conducted this workshop. There are 15 bloggers and 4 staffs were present in this workshop. The motto of this workshop to increase student’s knowledge as well as to make them more advanced in blogging.

In this workshop, David Sasaki discussed and gives different tips & examples that how to use web link and technorati.com. He also showed the bloggers/students how to use it. He discussed about different search engines and shown them how to make link using html code. Through his discussions and showing examples on weblink & technorati.com to the students/bloggers, they are now well known & more effective about the web link. Now they can use it in their own blog.

My Journey at Cox’s Bazaar

“I was shocked, my blood was running in my veins in so high speed …I am suddenly reached in cloud nine! I can’t believe this! Is it happened at last or still I am in dream…”---this was my first inner expression when I have heard about this trip from my husband. He was planning to give me surprise and he succeeded on it!

I am not an extrovert person but I do love journey, outing and of course cooking. But here, today, I am taking you with me into my journey at Cox’s Bazaar through my experience.

Our journey began at dawn. We caught 7 o’ clock’s train. I relieved my breath after taking a seat in train. As my husband, Riaz and me both are service holder, we have very little common leisure time. We were planning for this journey by train to Cox’s Bazaar for few years. However, suddenly, at night, after returning home from his job, he told me that I have a surprise for which I am devouringly dreaming and that was the very next day we were setting off to Cox’s Bazaar. Hurriedly, I arranged the entire luggage, taking digital camera for capturing beautiful moments, taking a flask full of tea and some dry food.

We reached at chittagong rail station after a seven hours journey. I enjoyed all the views the journey could offer along its rail-tracks; passing time eating, drinking, and taking some snaps. From station, we send off for our cousin’s house at Agrabad with handful of sweets and fruits as a gift of our hearty hospitality to them. After taking a half hour refreshment, we are getting ready for roaming in Foyze Lake with our cousin. There a pleasing, heart-charming view waiting for us to welcome these thirsty, eager eyes of us. What a view! I don’t know the exact expressing word which can truly express my feelings; I am lacking of that! It is so huge that one day must be scheduled for enjoying those heart-cooling, spell-bounded views. We did regret of spending such little time here. We just did some rides, boating less than for half an hour, riding on hills and sipping the beauties as my athirst eyes can do. We took snaps even after dark as if framing out could save more time to view these beauties for longer!

Next day, we were set off for Cox’s Bazaar in rain by bus. You can go at Cox’s bazaar by bus or reserve taxi; it is three-hour journey but don’t worry, your heart is already stealing away by roadside views. Those heart-thundering scenarios make you forget all the tensions, boringness and tiredness. Fresh, hilly air filled with welcoming aroma, engulfing us to its enchanting views. I enjoyed with every cells, with every breath, with my heart and with my soul. Chips and soft drink just worked as catalyst in this bus-journey.

Taking a meal from a restaurant, we step for the sea-beach. It was a wintry noon; its chilling was little higher because few hours ago, a hilly raining spread its touches to the weather. Waves were coming and breaking on beach…as if…as if...So many unspoken words, stories were trying to say its visitors but before it reaching to us, just breaking down. The sky bent down with the sea at horizon. To me, the world seems stopped there, I was drowning, drowning to its silence, bewildering to its hugeness, to its enormous beauty, overwhelmed by all of the sea and the horizon has offered to me.

There is a small market, build up based on handicrafts of oyster-shell of mollusk. We did roaming here and there, eating local food and then waving good bye to Cox’s Bazaar; we were heading for Agrabad by bus at 5 p.m. In downpour rain, we reached at our cousin’s home at 9.30 p.m.

The next day in Agrabad make me wake up with its soft, drizzling sound of cats and dogs rain. Today we booked the whole day for Potenga sea-beach. Here, we did shopping till noon for our family as souvenir from Chittagong, then stepped down to the beach after enjoying mouth-watering local meals, seeing the ebb and flow, taking snacks and of course lots of snaps before returning to our cousin’s home.

This is the last day here. We, today will go back again Dhaka by train at 3 p.m. this last day, Chittagong offered us a bright, sunny day from her lap as special souvenir to us as if, “see, I also have bright sunny day!”. After taking breakfast, we headed for Chittagong war-cemetery for the few hours we have before leaving Chittagong. This cemetery is build for those brave soldiers who died in World War II. This place is so solemn, so calm and beautifully mantled with lime, green grass, scented flowers as if to show them this ‘world’-y respect to their sacrificed soul. I bend my head to those graves that fights for this wonderful world.

Our train journey towards Dhaka began at 3 o’ clock. We did lunch in train, enjoying this seven-hour long journey with chips, flask full of tea, fruits and the views. We reached at Dhaka at 11 o’ clock. Here it is ended but I am luring for again the journey to Cox’s Bazaar, tempting to spend more days there, enticing to sip all the beauties it has offered to me. How many unvisited sights are still there! How many waves are still breaking down, telling so many unspoken stories to its viewers… Ahhh, what a journey it was!

Today it was Raining Heavily

Today it was raining heavily. At that moment I was in Nari Jibon office. The students didn’t come for the heavy rain. The weather became very wonderful. There is water everywhere. Still I don’t know how I will go home today. The roads are drowned by rain water now. We will have to face the problem of transportation. But we are very happy to get this rain in this hot season. I took some pictures of rain from my office room’s veranda; those I would like to share with all the blog readers.

Hi everyone! My name is Shaina Hyder, and I am a visiting English teacher at Nari Jibon this summer. I am working with the Spoken English 2 students, and I am really enjoying my time here. My students are already so eloquent and well spoken! We cover the basics, of course, such as interview skills, story telling, telling time, and giving descriptions and stating goals, but we also have discussions about the limitations that women face in Bangladeshi society and how to overcome them. The first couple days were certainly quite a challenge; though the students know English, adjusting to my accent (and me to theirs!) was a bigger barrier than I could have imagined. But we’re on our way now, with many gestures, a couple of pantomimes, and a lot of patience.

In the states, I am a Sociology major at Florida State University, and am most interested in gender and work. This summer, I hope to be studying the impact of industrialization and globalization on Bangladeshi women, and how the scope of women’s work has changed. More women are entering the Bangladeshi workforce than ever before. Most of the students in my classes are career minded women, while most of their mothers are housewives. I find this massive shift in a single generation to be very interesting.

I am having so much fun in Bangladesh this summer, and am so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with the Nari Jibon Project.

Now I will share some pictures of some beautiful moments with my friends, Bina and Maria in Cox’s Bazaar. We went there in a summer vacation. The natural beauty of The Cox’s Bazaar is amazing. My village name is Digrirchor. It is in the Dewangonj Thana in the Jamalpur district. Our village is near the Bangladesh-India Border. The scenery of my village is very beautiful. Whenever I go to my village I try to take some pictures on sceneries. Now I am sharing some pictures of my village.

The Falgun Fair of Housewives

Hello readers. I hope you are having a nice spring season. In our Bangladesh the spring season stays for two months [Falgun and Chaitra].

Yesterday when I was coming to The Nari Jibon Project then I found, a fair is held on Falgun. It is held near the Nari Jibon Project. I was very much attracted for one reason. I know that Bangladeshi people are fond of celebrating all the occasions. But the best part of this fair is --- it is arranged By ‘Dhaka Shatadal’ the organization of housewives. The word ‘Housewives’ attracted me a lot that I didn’t hear any organization like this.

In Bengali the name of this fair is ‘Griho Bodhu-der Falgun-er Mela’ [The Falgun Fair of Housewives].

All the sellers are housewives here. That’s why I went to visit the fair. The fair is arranged in a room. But there are many items to sell; those are: three-pieces, shawls, bed covers, skirt-tops, ornaments, Bengalese, sharees etc. Some dry foods and drinks are also sold in this fare.

I feel very happy that in this busy city Bangladeshi people try to celebrate some occasions. It can be arranged by locally or by the help of any organization or by personally. It may small but how many people try to celebrate and manage time to celebrate beside their official or other works. I feel very proud to be a Bangladeshi. Our people are very friendly and jolly minded.

Eid Celebration with My Friends

Hello readers, Eid Mubarak to all. Eid-ul-Fitar is a holy festival for us. I am Mohtarimun Nahar [Bipa]. I have two best friends. They are Kanta and Muna. In every year I celebrate Eid with my family and relatives. After three/four days I celebrate Eid with my friends. This Eid was special for us. Because we, the three friends had same results in Masters [we got first class]. So, we have decided to celebrate our Eid at the outside from our home.

On 18th October, 07 the sky was very cloudy. In the morning it was raining heavily. Then we got afraid that maybe our plan will be canceled. But we didn’t cancel our plan. We don’t know, next year where we will be. So, anyhow we will have to get together on that day. Then we left our home in the rain and got together at a shopping complex. There we decided to go to the ‘Boldha Garden’. There are many kinds of trees and a beautiful lake. We sit there and spent some hours together. We took some pictures to one another. Always we don’t get time to spend together. Cause we all are doing jobs. That’s why we always try to enjoy together all the festivals, like: ‘Pohela Boisakh’, ‘Pohela Falgun’, any Fair, one another’s birthday etc.

At 3:00 o’clock we went to have lunch in a restaurant. We had there ‘Kachchi Biriani’ and ‘Borhani’. It was great to have these in a rainy day. After having lunch we decided to visit at any ‘Temple’ to watch ‘Sharodio Durga Puja’ [The Veneration of Hindu religion].

Then we went to ‘Shri Shri Kali Mondir’ and ‘Shri Shri Ram Shita Mondir.’ There we spent time for 30 – 40 minutes and took some pictures there.

We had a great fun for 7/8 hours. We really enjoyed a lot. We hope all the time we will remain as best friend as present. To me without a good friend our life can’t be full-filled. I am very lucky and proud to have them, Kanta & Muna as a best friend.

The Rainy Day

In Bangladesh there are six seasons. Rainy season is one of those. It comes after summer season. On this day the sky remains cloudy. When the rain fall stars everything looks very beautiful. Trees get very fresh and look green. I like rainy day very much. Now I would like share with the readers about a rainy day of my life.

One day it was a rainy day. It was raining heavily since morning. On that day I sit quietly beside the window and I was hearing the sound of the pattering of the rainfall. I saw the trees and houses were bathing in the rain. Street people were running to get shelter from the rain. Some street children were enjoying in the rain and playing football. I wished to go to the street and play with them. But it was not possible for me. So I was to watch them only. But I was enjoying by watching them. Beside that I was hearing music.

After raining people feel so comfortable and the weather becomes fresh and cold. People like this season because they can get relief from the excessive heat of the sun. After raining sometimes we can see rainbow.

Rain is very useful for our agriculture. Our agriculture is mainly depends on it. If the rain comes in time, our farmers can harvest well. After raining all dirty things get washed. Everything looks very fresh and clean.

After raining the lands remain under water for some days.

Some time the rain creates many problems. Student can not go to school and college timely. People are to suffer very much. They can’t get any transport to go to their office. Traffic jam occurs in every where.

Rainy season is my favorite season. On rainy day I pass my time by reading story books, magazines; watching TV and hearing music.

Bangladesh is full-filled with many natural beauties. She is very beautiful in every where. The vast Bay of Bengal is situated in the South of Bangladesh. The Meghna river is situated in the East. Green trees, birds chirping, yellow corn crops etc make our mind fulfill. Green trees fill up our eyes and birds chirping fill up our ears and mind.

Every day we wake up by hearing birds’ chipping. The natural scenery of village draws a general picture of thrilling. A little Jonaki Poka [one kind of insect that has natural lights in her body] helps us to see our way in the bamboo garden in the dark night. Our eyes are charmed to see many natural beauties all around us. When we go near to the Padma, Meghna, Jamuna, Cornofuly rivers then our mind become fresh and we forget all of our sorrows. The water lily blooms in the canal. White Lily is our national flower.

The local area of the East is decorated by tea gardens. A large number of green parrots come to these tea gardens and that makes the scenery more beautiful. Specially the guest birds make the scenery more beautiful. The Seasons get changing after every two months. During the summer season the whole nature remains ‘kha kha (Heated badly by sun light). The village people suffer a lot in summer season. During this time the thousand of juicy fruits are found in our country. People can fill their mind by eating different kinds of juicy fruits. Like;-Mango, Jack-fruit, pine-apple etc. After the summer season the rainy season comes. In the rainy day, some girls wear blue sharees and they remember their favorite person. In the rainy day the village farmers get together to gossip. The girls sew Nokshi Kantha (traditional blanket) on their own mind. They draw their hidden dream in this Kantha. All village old men and women pass their time by gossiping. After the rainy season, the autumn comes with a fine and clear sky and the sheuli flowers. All time the white clouds remain in the sky in this season.

In the late autumn the villagers get rashi rashi [a plenty of] golden paddy in their houses.

The villagers arrange a party for getting new crops. This party called as ‘Nobanno Utshob’(Festival of foods made by new paddy). In this party the villagers welcome their neighbors and guests by chira, murri and many kinds of pittha (home made cakes). In this way they celebrate their ‘Nobbano Utshob’. After this season the winter comes with the dew drops and trees without leaves, various kinds of pittha (home made cakes) and date juice etc. when the dew fall on the grass and the morning sun light shines on it; it looks like diamonds. The spring comes with cuckoo’s singing. Many flowers bloom in this season. I think all people like the spring season. It is called the king of the seasons. In every season Bangladesh is been decorated by different natural beauties. To me Bangladesh is the most beautiful country in the world. I love my country very much.

A Stranger came beside my window!!!

Hello readers, I would like to share a funny moment of my life with you. One day (24th August, 07) I was working at office. Beside my window there is a roof of another building. Suddenly I found that a monkey was sitting on the roof.

It was a strange feeling to me. I have never seen a monkey in such a close way. I saw in the zoo before in a case. That’s why I tried to call him to take some photos of him but he didn’t listen to me. Then I gave him some biscuits and chanachur. After that he thought for a moment and came near my window. At that time I took some pictures of him.

He stayed for 30 minutes. After that he left the roof. But I couldn’t know how did he come here and where did he go? It is not possible to know where he lives. So, he is been a stranger to me.

Some people show different street games with monkey. This monkey maybe that type of performer. Or he can be a member of circus party. Maybe he had lost his way to go home or maybe he left his home. I will never able to know these questions’ answers.

History:
Bangladesh lies on the Eastern fringe of the Indian sub-continent and its people have always been great lovers of freedom; As a result, the area has almost always enjoyed a fair degree of sovereignty during its entire history, sometimes as one state and sometimes as several, with only perfunctory allegiance to the central ruling powers. It became a part of the British Empire in the 18th century. In 1947, when the sub-continent was divided into Pakistan and India, It became apart of Pakistan , When the Bengali Nation separated from Pakistan through an armed struggle in 1971, Bangladesh Became an independent and sovereign country.

Location:
Bangladesh lies in the North Eastern part of south Asia and is surrounded by India on the West, North and East. To the South it has the Bay of Bengal and Myanmar to the South- East.

Ethnic Heritage:
The population of Bangladesh is a mixture of Dravidians, Aryans and Mongolians, belonging to the black-haired, dark-skinned and short featured Austro / Mongoloid group. Hill tribes have their own distinctive racial features.

Culture:
Our culture is rich and intermingling; Aryans, Hindu, Mughals, Iranians and colonial Europeans have left their marks in the cultural identify of the people.

Climate:
The climate of Bangladesh is subtropical and tropical with temperatures ranging from an average daytime low of 15 º C in the cold season to a top of 35 º C in the hot season. Annual rainfall varies from 1000 mm in the west to 2500 mm in the South–East and up to 5000 mm in the North - East where tea is grown.

There quarters of the annual rainfall occurs between June and September. The 90% to 95% humidity during this season is almost unbearable for some travelers. The humidity remains high all year round producing thick logs in winter and making chilly nights in the North feel much colder then they are.

Seasons:
Bangladesh has three main seasons: the monsoon or wet season from late May to early October; The cold season from mid October to the end of February; and hot season from mid-March to mid-May. There are two cyclone seasons – May to June and October to November.

Best season for a visit:
October to March, when the sun is mild and pleasant, is the best season for a visit. The ‘Monsoon’ season (June to August) also has its own charms.

Hello readers, I would like to write something about our Bangladesh. Because all know that Bangladesh is a poor country and also known as a corrupted country. But Bangladesh has natural beauties too. So, I will try to write on some Bangladeshi places and their natural beauties. If I do any mistakes and can’t express my feelings then I hope and pray that you will consider me as a new writer. I will keep writing on many Bangladeshi places. Now I am trying to introduce Our Golden Bangladesh.

In South East Asia Bangladesh is one of the few countries that remains to be explored,. It has a delicate and distinctive attraction of its own to offer and it is definitively not a tourist haunt like Nepal or India, It is like a Painter’s dreg come true with a rich tapestry of colors and texture. The traditional emphasis of the tourist trade has arrayed been on the material facilities offered by a country rather than on its actual charms. This may be a reason. Why Bangladesh has seldom been highlighted in the world’s tourist maps.

In reality, Bangladesh made up not entirely made up reality, Bangladesh is not entirely made up of dirty slums and starving children, as the world has been taught to perceive. It has many unique features to offer. The Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world and the natural habitat of the Royal Bengal Tiger. Lush green lands cope interspersed by a network of vast rivers, the longest natural beach in the world, the history and culture of the land, possibly the most complex ethnic mixture in history, hospital propel -------all these and many more will contribute richly to your experience as a tourist .

The facilities offered are really not as poor as often pictured by the media. We have five star hotels in big cities, clean and comfortable accommodation in practically all towns on tourist traffic routes. A wide Tran’s potation network of air, rail, road and waterways connects all places conveniently.
